~桜くす玉~ Kusudama Sakura (2nd Version)

This type of Sakura Kusudama is different from the one I made before. This one was created by Tomoko Fuse, and like most of her kusudama works, the units are also united through pocket system.

Zoomed in :

I made this from 7 x 7 cm light blue paper as the main ball and flowers, and 2 x 2 cm yellow paper as the inner part of each petal.

I decided not to add any butterflies this time because I think this kusudama is already 'crowded' enough with the flower anther and filaments which I attached at the center part of each flower.
The instruction to make this type of kusudama was published in Origami Tanteidan Magazine,  number 72. I got it downloaded from > HERE <

I must say that this is the most difficult kusudama I've ever made so far. Folding the units are not so difficult. But when it came to uniting them, I got the urge to slam my head toward the wall a couple of times  confuse
Usually I only need a few hour to finish one kusudama. But for this type, I spent 3 days to complete! weep
That's why I decide to refuse any request to make this kusudama as a mass project!

~ゆりくす玉~ Kusudama Lily

I hardly remember the last time I worked on kusudama project. I think it's already around 2 years ago for Lia's wedding...
Recently I had the urge to make kusudama again and I thought that I will try to make the thread type. It means that the kusudama units are connected by thread.

This is my first project for thread type of kusudama which created by Tomoko Fuse :

I made it from shocking pink and yellow 120g papers sized 7cm x 7cm. The main ball consists of 24 units of origami lily.
I also attached 2 metallic green swallowtail butterflies made from 7cm x 7cm metallic green origami papers and a mix green tassel :

When I finished making it, one of my aunt saw it ans asked me to make one for her so she can hang it in her car. I make the smaller one because I think the size of the pink one will bother her vision while driving :

I made this one from 5cm x 5 cm 120g red papers for the main ball and metallic gold origami papers for the butterflies.
Here's the comparison for the size of these 2 Lily Kusudamas :

I'm eyeing another flower kusudama by Tomoko Fuse. But I will finish my paper model projects first which are currently pending because I had to make the pink lily kusudama for a farewell present which I'll give to my former Japanese teacher. She will be leaving soon after the new year, so I have to finish it first then I'll continue to work on the paper model project.

3D Origami doll #03 : Party Pierrot

I made this to be a birthday present for my cousin. I thought that I'd better make something for the present rather than think of buying something for her who can buy anything because she's the favorite child by her father sweat

I add an umbrella for this doll. I made it from 10 x 10 cm size paper, made a Kusudama Venus part's folding, and attached the umbrella holder :

Complete Variation

The reason why I named this doll Party Pierrot only simply because of the paper pattern grin

I arranged them into a plastic case and attached a birthday salutation on the back of its head :

When I saw the final product, I don't know why I had the urge to sell it because it looks like it's saleable
yen
But I'm still going to give it to my cousin on her birthday anyway... hehe

The instructions for making this doll are the same with my Ballon Pierrot

By the way, I also made an arrangement for the Powerpuff Girls paper models inside a plastic box. I posted the picture at their post.

3D Origami Doll # 02 : Balloon Pierrot

Finally I could make this doll because my 'partner in crime' was accidentally found small ball-shaped stereo foams in a store and bought them for me  grin

So I stated to make a 3D origami clown doll which supposed to look like this :

But when I was making it, I decided to make some modification because I felt like I want it to have legs with clown shoes. So this is how my doll turned out to be :

I'd like to show you the modification for its legs and shoes, so I zoomed in those parts :

We can see it fully modificated when it's laying down :

All of the costume parts which built this doll were made like Bell Flower Origami with different size of papers :
  1. Hat           : 1 piece of 12 cm square paper
  2. Collar       : 8 pieces of 6 cm square papers
  3. Sleeves    : 2 pieces of 11 cm square papers
  4. Body        : 1 piece of 18 cm square paper
  5. Pants       : 2 pieces of 7 cm square papers
  6. Head        : 3 cm in diameter of a ball shaped stereo foam
  7. Small yellow pompoms for the hat, hands, buttons, and the shoes
  8. Small beads for eyes and nose
Here's the INSTRUCTION of how to make this doll.

I'm thinking to make another one as a birthday present for my cousin on her upcoming birthday. But I need to find the paper for the costume first   sweat

Modified Kawasaki Rose Wreath # 4 : Jupiter in Spring

This is a late White Day gift for my dear best friend. It's been kind of a tradition for me to give her something I made for White Day on March 14 since our uni era ^^
I failed to give her something last year because I didn't have any idea what to make for her. But this year, I gave her this :

Jupiter in Spring

The Butterflies

The Ribbon

My friend thought that the title's pretty lame but she knows the reason behind that title well XD

So that's all for my 4 season modified Kawasaki rose projects. I'm so glad that I could completely finished them all. I'll see you again in my next project (^o^)/

Modified Kawasaki Rose Wreath # 3 : Fall's Sunset

3. Umbrella Origami
This one made from a round paper which are being fold into a half at 8 sections, then those folding creases are being arranged just like an umbrella creases.

Shikishi Board Flower Origami - Spring Sakura

Recently I'm addicted to make flower origami. I found an e-book about flower origami which are arranged on a shikishi board then I got interested in making them.

Shikishi board is made from fine handmade art papers laminated to hard board backing. they are edged with a strip of gold paper on the border and back.
Unfortunately shikishi boards can hardly be found at my area so I made them myself from duplex cardboard paper. In that case I'll be able to make any kind of shikishi board flower origami that I want.. v(^o^)v

Here are my first origami work for this kind. I meant to make them for spring so I chose 2 kind of Sakura (Cherry Blossom) flower origami.

The 1st one is regular sakura branches :

Zoomed in

2 colored of Sakura flowers and 2 types of Sakura bud

Falling Sakura petals

Butterfly

I've decided to attach my favorite Swallowtail Butterfly every time I made flower-like origami, so I attached 3 butterflies on this.. ^^

And the 2nd one is Fuji Sakura branch :

Zoomed in

2 colored Fuji Sakura flowers and 3 types of Fuji Sakura bud

Washi Hina Dolls

I attached 2 Hina Washi Ningyo I got from Yukiko mama. I thought they are fit pretty well for this season and I think they look nice to be put under the Fuji Sakura branch.
Yukiko mama, Hina ningyou arigatou! Watashi tachi wa koko de korabo shita yo ne ... (^o^)/

I'd like to show you the example of how the parts look like :
